Definition: smart door

A front door that has a built-in smart lock and video doorbell. The Ring video doorbell became so popular that it only made sense to build such a device into new doors. See smart lock and video doorbell.

The Masonite M-PWR Door
The first smart door, the M-PWR builds in a Yale smart lock and Ring video doorbell. A backup battery takes over if the house current fails, but there is no need to routinely replace batteries as with stand-alone smart locks and doorbells. Welcome lights turn on at dusk or when sensing motion. (Image courtesy of Masonite.)
